Question for new petstore owners

AZrattled Jul 04, 2008 06:39 PM

Or anyone that can answer,I just moved to Bullhead city Arizona and want to open a reptile store. There is one petstore that has been here forever but not much of a snake selection and some look poorly taken care of.How can i find out if theres enough of a market to make all the bills that come with lease,electric,feeding,etc...I have talked to her some but didnt get a really good idea if the area could support it or not (they are mainly fish),there is a petsmart opening and they are over priced and not much of a selection.I want to sell a good selection and healthy clean animals for less then the petstore and petsmart. If anyone is from this area i would be grateful to know of a retile community here or your opinions good or bad.I dont want to lose the money i have to sink into this venture...Im really itching to do this though,do i take the risk?

I lived in Prescott Valley for 7 years and my daughter lived in Bullhead City for 9. She was a teacher there and made a very smart move and got the heck out of there.

There is not enough of a market there to sustain a small pet shop especially a specialty shop. I don't think there is enough expendable income for the folks who live in Bullhead/Laughlin. Almost everyone who works there is barely making it. Plus there virtually no out laying communities to draw from. Do an internet business and cut all the overhead & expand your customer base.

Hi there. I have a question for you. I live in Apache Junction and i visit Prescott quite often to visit family and friends. Are there any decent pet/reptile stores i can visit and meander through on a sat.? Thanks.
