V. s. nuchalis

He is growing still and over 5 feet long now. He spies his mate nearby but she is too small yet for him so he has to wait a bit for her.

Nice water you got there Dan.
Take care!

Hi,
A friend of mine has a mature pair of nuchalis in the states as well. Good to see some people are still working with the smaller races of water monitor. By the way, the nuchalis, marmoratus and cumingi subspecies have been elevated to full species status recently based on numerous differences between them and their Indonesian cousins.

Sharp looking monitor. I don’t see a lot of those around.

What type of plywood is that and what is it sealed with? Just curious. Cheers

Some fellow who makes cages lightly torched the regular plywood and then applied a layer or so of regular sealer and it works great. What is best is the monitor only poops in the water bowl and never once has it ever pooped on the cage floor, so I have a large drain for the water basin leading to valve and drain it into a bucket and its easy cleaing for that particular specimen.

Thanks for the Nuchalis pics! This is one of my favorite species of monitors. Good luck with them!

For some reason I'm thinking I remember you got these as babies from Duncan@Herpafauna, is that right?

I was just curious as to what ever happened to those.

Beautiful monitor by the way!

No, don't know him.

Thanks. Wasn't sure if it was you or not and I was curious as to how they turned out.

I knew I should have grabbed them as I've never seen any babies offered since then and that was in July of '05.

I found a pic that I had saved of one. Duncan ran Herpafauna Indonesia in Bali. They used to be associated with DnJ reptiles.

Here's the pic of one of the babies.
