Odd Sleeping Location

platinumtlc Jul 04, 2008 09:58 PM

Is it odd that my collared likes to sleep like this?

I recently put back this background I made for her into her tank after being out of it for months and months, and she climbs the walls and loves it and I think maybe a little too much? She found a spot that has a big enough gap for her to lay on one of the rock formations near the top and go to sleep. She has a rock hide that she used to sleep under when the background wasn't there, but now she likes to sleep up here. Does she enjoy the feeling of hanging? Or does she like to sleep up high? It's weird.

It's certainly different, but not hurting anything. We have a collared who does that sometimes during the day, but goes to the hide at night. And we have a bearded dragon who sleeps up on a high branch and never goes to her hide anymore. I wonder if your girl prefers the temperature of her new sleeping place?

I like your background! How did you make and attach it?

I don't think it's the heat because she only goes up there when it's time to sleep. Around the same time every day, like 9 PM-ish. She'll just crawl up there even if the light is still on and try to find a good spot to rest on. She'll have that sleepy look on her face as if she wants me to turn off the light already. I have the lights on a timer and they go off at 10.

I made the background with polystyrene carved and covered with tile adhesive and then sealed with polycrylic water based clear-coat finish, and then carefully slipped it into the 20G long tank against the back wall. It fits very snug.
