Treadmills?

JackAsp Jul 05, 2008 02:05 AM

I'm just curious. Has anyone tried using treadmills, like a rat would run on, for collard lizards? If so, what were the results? No, I'm not plotting to get one and stick it in a ten galllon tank with a gerbil wheel, but I'm wondering whether it would be an enhancement for a large enclosure that would allow for even more running... or simply a waste of space.

I would be worried about their tails, IF they even use it. I think it would be better to give them more foot space, ie, a bigger enclosure. Do you have them in a 10 gal?

I think it may be something to sit on or even move the wheel as they jumped on it or whatever, but it would most certainly be dangerous as far as them maybe strangling themselves, getting head , neck caught in between bars, or limbs, while moving, and a for sure TAIL SHREDDER

I think Rock Climbing is much safer,

In answer to the question about me using a ten gallon, no, I do not even have a collard, and would not even think of using anything less than three feet long for one.
About getting caught between the bars, I thought of that; I was actually talking about a solid plastic one. I've got one lying around unused; I bought it and tried it underwater last year for my turtle, but he was.... not impressed with the idea.
