Hello,
I have a pair of black milks that I would like to breed. How big/old do they have to be and how do I go about doing it. Ive heard that a brumation period is not needed. Is this true?
Thanks very much
Bob

Hey Bob,
There is a little bit of a discussion about brumating black milks a few posts below. Some breeders brumate them and some don't.
I have "brumated" them before by putting them in a spare bedroom closet for a few months in the winter with temps ranging in the mid-60s to 70 and they bred fine. Lately, I've been brumating them with the rest of my collection in the mid-50s which also worked.
I would say they should be 3 years old and fed well in those 3 years and they are probably big enough to breed. Follow the colubrid receipe for breeding and it should work fine for black milks as well.
Good luck.
Dave
