What is this boa......????? DUW!!!!

NUCCIZ_BOAS Jul 05, 2008 10:34 PM

So I was at a small reptile show here in the Chicagoland area earlier today, and I ran across a table of a guy who personally... I can't stand. Tries to sell boas but doesn't know a boa from his, you get the idea. Constantly trying to sell normals as hypos, and my personal favorite, tried to sell me an albino that was a possible het for sunglow.... figure that one out. So I like to approach his table regularly and ask genetics questions, just to get him twisted up in his words. Maybe I'm a jerk, sue me! But today, I walked by his table and saw this..... WHAT IS IT!? He tried to sell it to me as a hypo, which it clearly is NOT, but it is gorgous to say the least. Clean with almost no speckling, but the pattern and colors have me thinking it's more than just a pretty pastel..... And her face is a blushing red. For some reason Jeff Ronne's Nova boas come to mind when I look at it. Im not saying there is any relation, but it reminds me of those. Any opinions on what it is? Maybe a jungle? Usually I dont even buy snakes at this show, just feeders, but something about this boa told me to take it home, there's something very different about it, but I can't put my finger on what......

looks like it's gonna be a cleaner-upper to any mate it breeds. Nice boa for sure!

I'd say I'd agree with the other two . It appears to be a Clean Pastel type Boa very nice one.
It makes me wonder sometimes how guys like that guy your speaking about get there hands on Boas like these.LOL
On another note I didn't know you are from around this area your talking about Dupage County Fair ground swap. Used to be Lee Watson show in Streamwood. Now combined with somebody else and at the Dupage Venue. I used to go for feeders mainly. Then Brian stopped doing that show so it kind of made my excuse for going disappear. Plus the old show was about 12-15 minutes from me. I think I might know who your talking about also,LOL

Im a regular at the show in Dupage. Was the same way at Watsons before it moved. Normally dont buy any animals besides rodents, but snakes like this one dont usually pop up at that show. I'm sure you do know who I was talking about, everybody I know seems to have the same opinion of the guy. if brains were dynamite I don't think he would have enough to blow his nose..... Drop me a line, Nucci451@ameritech.net I love talkin snakes, incase you haven't figured it out.... lol

That is a pretty Pastel - I'd love to have that one. I had a similar find at a reptile show except that I thought it was a Hypo at first, and it wasn't which made me happier because a nice Pastel is a great find. Here he is ---

Bob I'd love to see recent pics of your fem Boa from Cyclone breeding. She has such red saddles as a youngster. I'd really like to see color development . In most cases how much they've darkened. She's a beauty I know that. I spent some time looking over your gallery, some nice color in there among the rest of the treats! LOL

Nice..... scary thing is, thats the kind of things this guy says. I always make a point to approach his table and mess with him because he has no idea what he's talking about, and some of the things I hear are both funny/scary. oh well.....

Looks like a nice clean common BCI to me.

That doesn't look like a very nice Pastel to me. That looks like a really really really very very very nice Pastel to me. Could be related to my Lucy line which founded the EBV Red Group animals. Could be, but might not be either. Doesn't matter where it originated. It's a screaming beautiful Pastel Colombian Boa that, if she were here, never ever would have ended up on that guys table or any body else's table either for that matter. She would have stayed right here. Right here, where she belongs I might add... but I can't get them all.

Congrats on a great find!

Great Pastel!!!

I agree with Jeff that is a very nice looking Pastel boa.
I finally went to the Wheaton swap this year for the first time. I used to go to Lee's often.

Here is a nice male Pastel I have:
