Ques About Nesting Box

trevid Jul 06, 2008 11:25 AM

Do you guys use one? If so, what material do you prefer. I am using damp moss in a rubbermaid box right now, but it dries up often. Just wanted your opinions. Thanks.

I never use one-the female will hollow out a nice spot on the aspen, and the eggs will be fine until I find them and set them up for incubation.

Not neccesary. You can throw some soft Spagnum moss in the warm corner if youd like, or maybe some nice soft aspen shavings like the other person mentioned. Mom is gonna clear out a round spot of almost every speck of the bedding anyhow. Its nice to see her curled up in the center and have the moss all around her , to me she and the eggs seem more secure, but you really dont need to do anything different.

Best of luck!
