sleepy uro?

SlayerGal Sep 02, 2003 05:16 PM

My eyptian uro, Tenia seems to be sleeping an awful lot lately. For the past two days she has gotten up at all. I'm wondering if it's not hibernation time for her, but it seems really early in the year. She also doesn't seem to be eating much either ... what do you think is it hibernation time or not?

My understanding is, as long as the temps stay the same (120 basking, 100 hot end, 80 cool end) year round, they wont go into a hibernation state. I know none of my do (and I'm not sure I want to breed, so doing this avoids any brumation period). Are the temps ok in the cage? could something else be wrong?? My uro quit coming out and quit eating when he had a piece of food lodged in his intestines. You may want to get a vet to check her out just in case to rule out anything medically.

Hope you get it worked out!!

The temperature has pretty much stayed the same. I've had this happen w/other reptiles (bearded dragon, common green iguana). Usually they snap out of it in a week or two, I was just wondering if it was out of the ordinary.
