whistling sound

aspidistra Jul 06, 2008 07:36 PM

My daughter's Leucistic Teaxas Rat Snake makes a strange high pitched whistling sound. Not all the time but every once in awhile. Don't want to be crude, but kind of like when someone is breathing and they have a bogey in their nose. It's not very loud though.

She seems healthy and active and is eating well.

Could this whistling be something to worry about?

It's probably one of two things...a respiratory illness or she's in the blue. Sometimes there's some fluid retention around the nares during ecdysis, and this causes some raspy breathing on occasion. If it's the latter, it will go away once she sheds.
