Mundane question but...

AllBalledUp Jul 06, 2008 07:40 PM

How often do you swap out dairy cups? I've always changed out water every day, and cups every 7 days, but was wondering if I could stretch the cups to 2 weeks. Can't decide where the break point is likely to be in terms of bacterial growth. Thanks...Dave

Just wash or wipe them out when you change the water. Unless the cups are obviously filthy, they're fine. Of course your animals should be as clean as possible, but at the same time, keeping them "sterile" isn't good for them. Just like with people, if they're not exposed to anything at all, they don't have any resistance to anything either.
