I'd worry about impaction as with any other loose substrate, but AFAIK it doesn't have the toxic oils that cedar does, so contact with it shouldn't be harmful - it'd only be dangerous if it gets eaten.

Ok thanks for the post. I didn't figure it would work very well I just keep a large bag of it that I use with my snakes and thought it would look/smell pretty in there.

I did the same thing once. My Leos are used to sand substrate but I ran out and used the aspen that I normally use in my snake cages. They freaked out and couldn't stop pacing. Haha, I'd have to agree, even though it smells nice, it's not the best option.
