How to seperate eggs??

dacherrypicker Jul 07, 2008 07:47 PM

I have a slug attached to a good egg. Everyone says take it off and move it to the side. But it is stuck. Is there an easy way to seperate them without hurting the good one?

If the slug doesn't matter, just cut it away carefully, leaving some of the dude attached, but not enough so that it rots or molds.

It has no showing of veins or anything. When I candle it it is completely yellow.

gotcha...I caught up with your post below. Thats not a slug. Slugs are skinnier, yellow and have a waxy look to them. You probably have an unfertilized egg. Just pointing out the common terminology. Now to your question. It probably is infertile and will go bad within about 2 weeks. You can try to seperate them by gently peeling them apart. They're fairly tough, but you could tear the shell. Some folks advocate "sawing" them apart with dental floss. I usually use the first method. If I can't get them apart, I usually just leave it. I've personally never had a bad egg kill a good one, but some folks say it can happen.

Thanks JP and all. I will leave it for now. If something starts going wrong with the other egg I will use the floss idea. Thanks again. Hopefully in around 55 days I will hatch out my first BP. And I hope he/she looks just like dad. Here is a pic of him at about 900 grams!
