All of them are in blue.
6 of the 9 survivors have already eaten - so they are off to a good start.

One of them has already had his blue eyes clear - so the shed should not be too far away.

I did manage to borrow a damn good camera - under penalty of death if I don't ship it back fully insured to mom and pop before Mom heads back east. Unfortunately, they don't have a macro ring flash for it - only the pop up flash (Canon Rebel XT) but I'm much more confident in my ability to get good pictures with it than my crap auto everything camera that likes to refocus incorrectly on a whim (and it is getting worse - my guess is the AF sensor has seen better days).

Anyway - I expect sheds very soon and pics to follow.

I really think they look more like splendida than they look like any other species, like spendida with charcoal rubbed on them, and a few hints of Cal King heritage.

To me - the clutch is evidence that MBK is really "just" a dark splendida. I'd love to see DNA analysis of the three western kings with something like L g getula as a reference. I bet Cal King is justifiably different than splendida, but that MBK is not.

so did you loose some out of the egg or just have a few eggs not hatch?
either way i agree with your thoughts on mbk's being melenistic splendida. i have seen many baby mbk's that looked like splendida and then turn solid black as well as solid black babies and patterned mbk that stayed patterned to adulthood.
now i wonder if anyone has had w/c splendida hatch solid black babies or have babies get darker with age?

One came out extremely small with yolk attached and lived about 24 hours.

That egg was originally stuck to an egg that went bad and started to mold, and the mold spread. I separated the bad egg and the mold stopped growing on the good egg, but it may have impacted the development of the good egg. Or it could be coincidence (I've had similar situations hatch out perfectly).

The one with the yolk still attached was the longest from pip to emerging, but apparently that wasn't long enough.

This morning, several were soaking - so maybe they'll start shedding today.
