stunting growth?

bhavoc Jul 08, 2008 01:15 AM

i recently purchased a male bci and i was wondering if the cage size will determine the size it will grow or will it outgrow the tank? obviously if it outgrows the tank im going to get a bigger one but i was just wondering if the bci will keep growing. im looking to grow it big so if it will outgrow the tank i would like to know so i can get a bigger tank when necessary. thanks for any comments.

Cage size has nothing to do with how much your boa will grow! How big is your guy, and what size cage is he in now?

You can stunt the growth by feeding regiment but not by cage size.

It shocks me how often this question is asked - and I'm willing to bet this myth is still passed around in the bad-pet-store care advice.

Check out this old thread from the Ball Python forum where we were talking about this same question pretty well in-depth.

And my biggest concern here... since you sound so concerned about stunting your snake's growth, are you honestly prepared for your snake to live a healthy life in your care and grow as it should? That is a question everyone should be asking themselves before purchasing any animal!

Best of luck
