Hatchlings being difficult feeders

stylindawg2006 Jul 08, 2008 08:17 PM

I have several different clutches of corns that hatched out about 3 weeks ago. About half of them have accepted their first meal already but the rest are being difficult and won't eat. I offer F/T pinkies and once offered live. I have tried the over night brown bag method which worked for a few. Any ideas on how I can get the rest to eat.

you can try :
tuna juice, washed with dove soap, brained, beheaded, scented with green anole, brown anole or house anole. Also scented with treefrogs.. if that doesnt work... you can try those live critters.... green/brown/house anoles or baby tree frogs...
thats just a few things to try... most corns wont eat until they shed(that i have noticed) so make sure they have shed.

They do not appear to be losing any weight. I know that it can take several weeks after their first shed before they eat.

Are you housing the babies in individual cages?
That can make a big difference in getting a feeding response.
Corn snakes are solitary by nature and keeping them in groups stresses them.
