How could this Leo be this healthy!!!???

MrHobby Sep 02, 2003 07:03 PM

My first Leo died earlier this week after struggling with syringe feeding and creating the perfect environment. I found another Leo at a local pet store with an enormous appetite, very active, and a robust/ healthy appearance. This Leo had been housed in a 8" x 12" plastic container with no extra lighting or any type of heat source. This guy has been kept like that for several months! This contradicts virtually everything that I have read and practiced with my earlier failure. I purchased this Leo earlier today. I am concerned that my 'ideal environment' may be too different from his 'thrown in a box environment'. Has anyone seen a Leo raised in the manner that I have described??? This pet store makes PetsMart look like supreme beings!!!
Thanks

Leos are pretty hardy as it is unless they contract a disease. My first two leos didn't have proper lighting and heating either when I got them. They were even underweight, but they were still alert and active--on the lookout for food.

When I received my first leopard gecko I don't remember being informed about a heat source or light I think I was basically told room temperature and I had her maybe a 2-3 years like that now it's different with 40 watt light bulb in a heat lamp and hides in a ten gal. Aquarium which she has lived in almost her whole life and she has always been extremely healthy I've had her about 5 years now.
