I have tried the excavator sand and it's debatable. I liked the way it did hold a shape and make burrows. However it is the constancy of mud for about 45 minutes after making and is like cement coming out. Very hard to clean. My Leo was also less than amused by how hard it became after awhile (Clearly hiding in her magnetic rock/window cling and not walking on it for 2 days)

The digestible sand I wouldn't trust again. I put it in and the second I put the Leo back in she took a great big bite of it. Plus two more before I could get a hold of her and yank her back out/dispose of the sand. I guess the calcium is just too tempting.

oh heh ok i guess ill stick with reptile carpet/paper towels

also i noticed that you said a magnetic rock cling, are you referring to a product called reptile den? if so, what size do you have and how wide is the half that goes in the tank?

thanks

I believe that it is the den (http://www.bigappleherp.com/Exo-Terra-Reptile-Dens?sc=2&category=7), I've had it for a year an a half. The part that enters the cage is 3 inches deep. It is 8 inches long and 4 high.

IT IS TOO SMALL. It was fine when she was 4 months-12 months old. She was comfy, it was great, now at 16 months she has out grown it to the point where her head sticks out and tail arches over the second level. It's borderline cruel and I have looked everywhere for the larger size but can't find it anymore in stores. Plus she loves it so much that I don't want to take it from her.

oh ok thats cool.

cant you try buying the den online?

and is your gecko at full size?

JannieWolf Jul 18, 2008 02:38 PM

I probably can get it online, but at this moment a $30 hide isn't fully in my budget. Yay economy!

I think she is fully grown, or at least slowing down. She's grown a half inch in the past 2 1/2 months and has only put on about 5 grams in that time, putting her at about 50. Her tail is HUGE tho so she's not underweight, just petite I think.
