I put a humidity hide in my BP's tank a few days ago w/ moss in it. I opened it up today to see if it was still damp and noticed white fluffy tufts in the container. Did I do something wrong?

Mold on moss?

nothing wrong./sugars in moss will mold ........
I wash/rinse the moss in HOT water.........
then squeeze it very well........
then dry it out a little(air dry on towel?..whatever......
ten put it back in hide.......
repeat as it molds.....
sooner or later....it will stop getting moldy........(usually 3 or 4 times at least)....
it will eventually turn to peat (moss)...
