I thing I spotted my first ASF, although rather brief.

I went to pet store to get some mice as my babies are a little small right now. I asked them for 5 of their biggest mice.

I got home and in the little box were 4 normal white mice and a brown something. Larger and stalkier than the mice big beady eyes, smaller than a rat. I reached in to grab her and %*&$%&$ she was gone. She jumped, up half like a kangaroo , flew over me down on the ground and was gone. Id never seen anything move so fast, or jump so high. After 30 minutes of searching, and another hour of letting the kitten and ferret search, we gave up. She's somewhere in my garage.

I swear I thought of the Sylvester cartoon where hes chasing a kangaroo thinking its a rat. From searching online this morning Im pretty sure it was an asf. I called the pet store, and they werent sure, just said a few came in shipment with feeder mice

Did ya get a look at it's back feet? there are kangaroo mice and rats, although I've never seen them for sale in a pet shop. Just a thought.

yeah, but I dont thing a kangaroo mouse would mistakenly be in a feeder bin. She looks like the asf rats on asf.org and Ive read that they are hard to hold on to and jump 2 feet in the air.

I have a humane trap set int eh garage, but I dont think she is still a round

smaller than a rat, larger than a mouse and breed well
