what are her chances

okeeteekid Jul 09, 2008 10:19 AM

hi, my motley banded amels hatched out tuesday and out of nine eggs there was one egg that was half the size, about the size of a marble and this girl hatched out, she is small about half the size of her litter mates do you think she will make it, she is one of the best looking ones that i ever produced her pattern looks like a banded cal king, i am worried that she is to small to eat pinkies, do they make it when they are this small and if she does make it will she not get as big as normal.
thanks
greg

i know there is a person why hatched out a runt amel corn... dont remember the name... but he had to force feed limbs of pinkies to keep it alive. now it eats on its own and is a big snakey.

I had a very small lav corn last year just like yours. I would assist feed it mouse tails until it grew enough to eat pinks. The mouse tails work real well. Just cut them off of a DEAD frozen mouse. Thaw them in warm water and just slide them down the snakes thoat with a gentle slow side to side twirly motion. Keeping the tail wet helps. Also slide them doen big end first (the end that was closet to the mouse's body.

I did this twice a week of 3 months and he finally started eating small pinks on his own and then took off ofter that!!

here is his pic next to a mouse tail. Obviously I didn't give him one this size..lol

I had a very very small creamsicle hatch out 2 years ago. I fed him the smallest pink heads i can find. he never refused a meal and is now well over 3' long.

Hey, i had the same issue in 2006 i sold off the rest and payed attention to the "Runt" my girlfreind force fed mouse thighs for about a month or two and then when i thought he may be big enough i left him over night with a fresh live pinkie and it took it from then on he is a eating machine and is huge, hope that helps alittle bit, i think there is hope though, and the beautiful amel corn in myliving room is proof
