small incubator?

bloodsrock21 Jul 09, 2008 11:38 AM

Hi this season will be my first time breeding after 10 years keeping variety of herps. I am going to breed my 06 male yellow belly to 2 of my 03 and 04 normal females. So, I am looking at 2 clutches to work with. What incubator or hovarbator is the most effective and economical for 2 to 5 clutches, since I will probably will use this for a few clutches then switch it to a refrigerator incubator. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you want to test the waters, a modified hovabator is fine. It can accommodate only 2 clutches unless they are really small and then you might squeeze in 3. That way, if you decide breeding is not for you, you have not wasted too much time or money.

Are they effective? I want it to be a successful. What would I need to do to modify it? Thanks,

Rich

I have accommodated 50 burm eggs in one modified hovabator, several years in a row, with 100% hatch every time. It depends on how you do it.

Depending on the size of the clutches, I could put 5-10 ball clutches in one modified hovabator.
