black ball python?

whatnowcustoms Jul 09, 2008 04:34 PM

got a random question for yall....a few years back i remember someone in the breeders section of the kingsnake buisness section had a competely jet black ball python. at the time it had not been proven and i believe there were on "het" males available. does anyone know what or whom i'm talking about and if so does anyone know if it was proven or anything came about of it. kinda popped into my head so i figured i'd throw it out there. mike

The first black ball was produced by Gulf Coast Reptiles in 2002. It is genetic as the super form of what is now known as the black pastel/cinny pastel. There are many people working with these genetics as the price has come down considerably over the last 6 years.

They are great friends and produce great animals. I have no problem talking good about them. With that said, I like to give dates with facts and giving credit where it is due no matter who I am talking about.

That's cool man. Good friends should be celebrated. Just messin with you cause I've noticed a pattern when you talk about their achievements. Like I said, all good.

Hey Josh,

I believe he may be speaking about another, completely different snake. Seems like I recall seeing one a few years ago as well.
It was SOLID JET BLACK! Neither the Super Cinnys nor the Super Black Pastels look as BLACK as the snake I am speaking of.
Seemed like Vin Russo may have been the one who was woking with it....or perhaps my memory has failed me.
But is was different from the animals produced by Chris.
I had heard about possible hets being produced...but never heard anymore about it.
I too have often wondered what became of this project.
It would be great to read a post by anyone with details about this JET BLACK BALL project.

Take care.
