serpsel Jul 09, 2008 09:24 PM

This is the whole litter just after they were born and separated from one angry momma boa.

The Pewter is very difficult to photograph(at least for me) but you can see the purplish hue this animal has, pretty neat!!

Here is the Fab Five all born in the same litter: Bloody Salmon, Blood Boa, Pewter Boa, Type II Ghost, Type II Anery

You don't find too much info on the net about Pewter Boas, but from what I understand, a Pewter Boa is both a Blood Boa and an Anery. That's two recessive genes in one snake, pretty cool.

So all of the salmons and normals in this litter are possible het blood and possibe het type II anery. This litter was from a normal poss het blood x salmon poss het blood. There were 13(lucky 13 for me!) perfectly healthy babies in this litter. I would like to thank Rich and John at Salmonboa.com for selling me possible hets for blood boa that proved out to be not only 100% het for blood boa but also 100% het type II anery.

trying to grasp all of genetics implied with this litter. So a Petwer crossed with a Blood Boa will yield all Blood Boas 100% het for Type II Anery. A Pewter crossed with a Bloody Salmon will yield all Bloody Salmons and Blood Boas 100% Het for Type II Anery. Does this sound about right to you? I wonder what a Pewter crossed with a Pewter would yield? Would it yield all Pewters? I guess it is time for me to study up on punett squares!!

Congratulations! Absolutely awesome litter. sometimes 13 is a lucky number. your bloody salmon is beautiful and that type II ghost looks spectacular. never heard much or even seen a pewter boa, but can definitely see a difference and love its look. congrats again on one of this year's (must have) litters.

all the kind words. The number 13 was definately my lucky number, to cross a normal poss het blood with a salmon poss het blood and not only prove the parents to be 100% het blood but also 100% het anery, I'll take it!!
