baby beardie had seizures?????

goawaynow Sep 02, 2003 07:45 PM

Hi maybe some one can help me. I gave a baby beardie to someone and they brought him back. When I got him he looked like he was having a seizure. His legs went strait out and he was shaking. After a minute it stopped and he looked dead. Then he lifted his head and bit me. So I set him up in a tank with a light and watched him. At one point he ran around in circles and hid under a log. Can they have seizures? When he was given to her he was in good health, eating good, proper lighting, vitamins.... He was in her sons room at the right temps. The only thing I can think of is maybe he was dropped or something of that nature. She said no but....... If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks

Funny I was just talking about this. The same thing happened to me with my new babies, I was using pure calcium to supplement and some babies started to twitch and seizure. I switched to calcium with D3 in it and they got better and haven't had a problem since. A common misconception (that I suffered from myself) is that if they have calcium they are fine, but D3 is just as important, because without it the body cannot process the calcium.
If this sounds like it could be your problem add D3 to your vits. I use Rep-cal with D3 (pink lable), love it!!

YOu said the legs were strait? How big were the bugs he was eating at the house? Maybe he got impacted by to many large crix.

can that happen in a day or two? When I had him he was eating small crix gutloaded with rodent chow and veggies and dusted with vitamins and calcuim. If he had some type of trama like from a fall or a young kid grabbing at him would that have done it? I just want to make sure this do not happen again. Thanks.
