red eyed question??

geckoguy_ottawa Sep 02, 2003 07:56 PM

Hey guys,
A buddy of mine is interested in getting some RETF this weekend at a herp show. He has the perfect set for them. His aquarium is 50 gallons and pretty high. Ive read that red eyes do better in colonies. How many can you put in a tank this size? Just curious,
Thanks,
Jason

Red Eyed Tree Frogs are social with other R.E.T.F. A 50 gallon terrarium tank can hold around 8-10 R.E.T.F

All social frogs do better singly. RETFs can be kept in groups but won't do any better that way than alone at all.

Anyway, a 50-gallon should be able to hold about 4 adult RETFs. I know this information is very different than the last posters, and maybe it can be pushed a little further, but you shouldn't stick 12 RETFs in a 50-gallon.
