just a thought on hides

trex8692 Jul 10, 2008 07:51 PM

the setup i hear most is with 3 hides (1 moist, 1 warm side, and 1 cool side)

because the moist hide has to be placed on the warm side, why not just make the terrarium have only two hides, as the moist hide will also double as a warm hide?

just a thought that was going through my head when i was looking at tank setups

The key to understanding this is to remember that you're trying to offer options. The reason you offer hides on both warm and cool ends is so that the gecko doesn't have to choose between shelter and temperature. Separate moist and warm hides make it so that the gecko doesn't have to choose between humidity and temperature - it may be that they want to be dry and warm, and separate hides give them that opportunity.
