Reticulated Python breeding

christian14 Jul 11, 2008 10:13 AM

I am going to try and breed my 06' albino tiger reticulated pythons but I'm not sure exactly what I need to do in terms of incubation and the care of the neonates. What is the usual clutch size of reticulated pythons? The female is about 18' and has a nice diameter to her.

First of all, you have an 18' 06 female? That doesn't sound right. Regardless, if this is an acurate size, she should be big enough.

Wait for signs that she is receptive, such as refusal of food, and nose rubbing. Then put them together. Once she lays eggs, incubate at 88 to 90 degrees for about 85 to 90 days in moderate to high humiduty.

You could provied a nest box and maintain cage temps at about 86 degrees and allow the female to maternally incubate, but I prefer incubators.

This was the short and sweet of it, without all of the details. Best thing to do is find a mentor, especially if they live close to you. Also, get advice from different sources, and take in the good with the bad to develop your own techniques.
