OT Dumeril Boa litter...

14 live, 1 stillborn, and 2 pills...

Beautiful litter, Way better than the single baby litters I had a few years back when I tried my hand with Dums.

I think it has more to do with the age of the snake then the skill of the Herpetoculturist.

She is 19 years old and the male is the same age.

I believe most people have problems with dumeril's due to breeding the ophidians at a young age and also from obtaining adult specimens from a different geographical origin of the breeder and therefore a certain amount of biological programing is making the Herpetoculturist miss out.

This is her largest litter and she has not bred since 1999 when she had retained products of conception which took her several years to pass making her functionaly infertile till this time.

So I feel very lucky to have gotten this litter from a pair of snakes that most would think are past their breeding potential, which is what I THINK made me more successful.

0.2 kids (CBB, a big part of our selective breeding program)

LOL, to many snakes to list, last count:
26.49 BRB
20.21 BCI
And those are only the breeders

lots.lots.lots feeder mice and rats

my guess was July 11, this is not bs BTW LOL!!

I did not base this on ANY scientific stuff, I was going to visit my friend in Alabama this time frame and if I had goune the litter would have been born when I was gone a "Murphy's Law" kinda thing LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

What a beautiful batch of Dumerils! I've always liked them. I thought about getting one before finally deciding on my blood python instead.

At least you predicted babies for sure, although I was rather confident in how she looked and behaved compared to what I have took in about female boas.

Female brb has me complately unsure, but yet I would not be surprised, she is solid like a brick you know what!!!
