color change in pastels?

teaspoon Jul 11, 2008 06:38 PM

I'm looking around for a hatchling pastel, all the one's that I've found have nice color, but most all of the pictures that I've seen of adults don't look all that nice, they seem like they're just a lighter phase of a normal. Do pastels fade and become less yellow as they grow or an I just finding all the bad photos of adult pastels? I know that when they first hatch, they look pink, but how else does color change(if at all) as they grow?

Pastels with alot of orange tend to brown out as adults. High yellows with lots of blushing tend to look pretty good as they get older but isnt always the case. When looking at babies do not always go by what the paretns look like. Below is a picture of my adult male breeder that I just sold. He is a very nice pastel. Two of his daughters that i held back look just like him however he did produce a very dull male as well. Best of luck!!!
