update on my rescue monitor

tribbielvr Sep 02, 2003 09:02 PM

Tonight was a very good night. The rescue savannah I have been whining about ate two chick thighs! Fluffy, the bigger one that HAS been eating, eats SOOO much that I grew some chicks out for her. Well the legs would get stuck on the sides of her mouth so I started butchering them prior to feeding them to her. I always kill them first anyway, because I hate to see the poor things scared to death while being chased and Fluffy doesn't care if what i feed her is dead or alive! Anyway.......Sandy (the really awful looking one) was watching me so I threw the legs to her. I went downstairs to get fresh water for them and when I came back she had eaten BOTH of the legs! We are talking about a monitor I have been having to force feed gruel to keep her alive. Last week I put a pinkie in her mouth and she bite it then spit it out, I had about given up hope of having her EVER eat. Anyway....looks like she'll I'll try the whole day old chicks again and I'll try her on f/t mice again too.

Anyway......some of you guys said to just stick with it when I was really getting discouraged, I did....and I am SOOOO glad to see she is coming around.

Oh, and BTW, I have no idea of the sex of these guys so I have just decided they will both be females, why? Because they obvioulsy are brave and strong to have made it through what they went through BEFORE I got them. Must be female huh?? Just kidding.
