Found 2 nice Florida Boxes today

bonomoc08 Jul 12, 2008 10:26 AM

I went out at about 8 or so this morning road driving the backwoods to see if I could find anything of interest. I found no snakes, but I found some Florida box turtles. The first one was a female. She had a perfect shell, no chips or cracks. She was very personable too. I snapped some pics and moved her across the road to where she was headed. Then about 7 miles down the road I came across an old male. He's definately been around a long time, he's huge for a Florida box turtle. He had a broken shell at one time, a long while back that has been healed. He had hardly any growth rings, probably worn down. He wasn't as personable as the female was, but he was a really, really AMAZING find. I moved him across and took some pics of him. I have a new digital camera, so I should be able to upload images.

Thanks, Cliff
