A Couple of Big Boys

sidbarvin Jul 12, 2008 10:41 AM

It's been quite a while since I've put pictures of my niles up here. They are both males and are housed together. Both are comfortable around humans, though the larger of the two, Marvin, has no problem letting me know who's boss, and it's definately not me.

Enjoy!
Thanks for looking,

I have to agree. Those guys ARE impressive. But I gotta ask, the chew marks on that chair, is that from the niles or have ya got pups?

Quig, yes the dogs are probably the culprits, ha ha ha. I don't think monitors ar into chewing up household objects.

Yes, Tommy, they certainly have, and continue to do so, heh heh.

Thanks All for the compliments.

How big is are they?

sidbarvin Jul 13, 2008 12:02 PM

In the fifth picture down, where they are coming out of their room, the one on the right, is 6'7". The one on the left is just over six feet.

Both are gorgeous. They look so healthy.

Out of curiosity, how large is their housing?

sidbarvin Jul 13, 2008 12:08 PM

The room they occupy is 11'x15'. It has served it's purpose but is not suited to accomodate a proper environment for them. They will soon be moving to a slightly smaller enclosure in my basement where I can provide much deeper substrate and more water. Even though the new cage is smaller, I believe it will serve them better.
Thank you for the compliments.

Those are nice not many people keep them where they(the niles) are willing to be photographed walking the house.

Thank you. Judging by the disposition of these two and the two juveniles I am raising now, I'd say the nile "mean factor" is highly overrated.
