Ok, I hatched out a clutch from a male Amel and a female Crimson. In this clutch were Anerys, amels, normals, and the ones in the pics below. Also pictured are the parents. These babies have kind of a lavender tint to them, or maybe a ghost look? What do you think?

Those look like ghosts, at least on my monitor-which merely indicates that your amel was het hypo (crimsons also being hypo).

I actually bought both parents off of you Brad a few years ago as hatchlings.

Wow-the crimson bred already? Good for you!

Crimsons are variabe-that one obviously came out not as grey in the background as some. It resembles one of my females, so she was probably the parent...

I don't recall exactly-but looks like the amel must have come from one of my "sunglow" females!

some of your "normal" babies are probably hypos. b/c a hypo anery is a ghost. and if you got anerys from the clutch,,, crimson is a hypo... sooo i'm doing the math and hypo and anery are ghosts. Double check your normals...

I'll assume the red eyes in the offspring photos were just from the flash of the camera, this is quite common to see. The offspring look like nice examples of ghosts....so your amel had to have been het for at least hypo and anery, and your Crimson had to have been het for at least anery and amel since as the other's already mentioned, a "Crimson" is a hypo Miami phase corn.

Your first photo certainly looks hypo, but it doesn't look to be a "Crimson" per se, since the background coloration looks pretty orange,...whereas it should have a much lighter background color if it were a true Crimson.

I purchased the Crimson a few years ago from Brad Chambers (brhaco). It was purchased as a crimson so that is what I call it.

stylindawg2006 Jul 12, 2008 11:11 PM

Actually no, the babies do infact have ruby red eyes.

DMong Jul 13, 2008 04:35 PM

Ah!,....okay, that can certainly happen as well to some strains of ghost too!,....A friend of mine has a very pink adult ghost that has ruby-red eyes too, and I think Kathy Love had, or still does have some "special project" ghosts that have the ruby-red eyes as well.

In any case, those ghosts display some exceptional hypo characteristics, as opposed to some that look a little more anerythristic than other's, and should really look great as they age too!.....very nice indeed!

Defenitely look like ghosts. Check Normals again to c if they are hypo.
