Temp / Humidity levels

LBCBall Sep 02, 2003 09:26 PM

My 3 month old ball's enclosure (25 gallon) sits at about 85-86 degrees ambient air temperature during the day and 75-80 at night. I just recently added a Zoo-Med analog humidity guage and it sits at 70 to 82 percent all the time. Is that too high off a humidity level?

I have about 75% of the screen top covered in plastic sheeting with a space for my lamp (40w Moonlight Heat) and some open screen for ventilation.

oh, I also have the smallest of the Zoo-Med UTH's.

Any opinions welcome

humidity should be fine. Make sure your hot side sits 88-92.

And how did the ZOO Med UTH burn your snake?

...pretty much you're on base but I'd recommend no less than 78-79F at night, for 2 reasons: 1) to reduce any risk of respiratory disease, and 2) later, when adult if you want to breed, night-time cooling may be more effective (just a theory, however).
The humidity can also vary throughout the day and week. Just be sure it's up during the shed period. Scott J. Michaels DVM
