all depends on what you want to do. probably cheaper to build one, but easier to buy one. for an adult dragon cage should be 4x2x2 in feet.

most people build them out of melamine board. search through the forums here on this section and also the cage and habitat forums and i know youll be able to get some ideas

hey thanks. i was thinking of wood covered in like plastic covering sort of thing but i hear wood smells sometimes (plastic backgrounds like the desert backgrounds) will that work?

melamine wood basically is wood covered in plastic. you may be able to find it at home depot or lowes, but id suggest getting it at a store that does cabinets and such. better quality

We built our cage(6'x2'x2')out of wood and used vinyl flooring to cover the walls/floor of the enclosure. You can get the vinyl flooring at most home improvement stores and in any color or style that you like. They are usually about $20 a box and have like 20-25 tiles in them, we used about 4 boxes I believe. It's really easy to clean and works great for us. The cool thing about building your own is you can get as fancy as you want. We used ceramic tiles for his built in basking spot and My hubby even built a set of stairs for our "spoiled" dragon!!..haha!
here's an older pic of the enclosure, my camera batteries died..go figure. There is another fixture above his basking spot and the four little enclosures that you see are finished and now house geckos. enjoy!
