I live in central Pennsylvania, and due to our regulations can not keep eastern box turtles. I do have a single hybrid eastern/Florida male, a three toe/eastern hybrid female and 3 normal three toes. All were wild initially I am sure, and ended up here for various reasons.
I was wondering if three toes could be hibernated outdoors here, and if anyone had done that successfully ? I can of course bring them in for the winter, but they had all kids of problems last winter with that (eye issues, not enough humidity even though misted daily) Would "indoor" hibernation be better/required ? Would an appropriate hibernaculum do the job better ?
Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated,
Thanks -
