Now that there is a beautiful pair of snakes.

Do neonates look different and go through a color change to look like the adults in this species ?

Thanks for any answer...

Some of the naturally occuring polygenic appearances (like Orange and Gray phase) do go through a bit of a color change, but not Axanthics (aka Silvers). They're born silvery white and pretty much stay that way.

I got a pair from Randy in '06, and they're Trumbower Silvers...often a bit lighter than some of the other Axanthics, almost white because they're so light silver. Some Trumbowers look more or less average though. Randy's are nice.

Thanks for the insight, so that would be a good indicator they are actually Axanthics (aka Silvers). if they are like that when they hatch. (I know I read a thread about their validity as neonates now that a few seconds has passed since I read your response).

Guess sometimes I need to be told twice.

Thanks again!!

Frank

Thanks Frank. The silver and blond babies tend to have a little more of a color difference from the head to the tail when hatchlings from what I have noticed but the color becomes more uniform fairly quickly as they grow. The hatchlings average over all color seems to be about the same as the adults though. You can see what I mean by this picture of this blond hatchling from the blond pair I posted.

Love your posts Randy. I'm pretty sure this is the male that I requested and now have in my own collection. He's a beauty but I think the female you sent with him was an even better addition!
Gotta get me some more blondes!

Thanks a lot Ryan. I'm glad you like them. I can't remember, are you coming to Daytona.

No, I won't be making it down. You'll have to ship all those rats that I want from ya up to my neighborhood.
