There is a slim chance that I may be relocating to that area and was wondering what the herping is like there and what herps, (primarily snakes) are encountered there?
Thanks!

i can't help you much. my son lives in mena, about 80 miles from ft. smith. i know they have speckled kings, eastern hognoses and many black racers. if you pass through dequeen and mena next time, visit cossatot falls state park's visitor center. they have a large e. hognose on display there and in the gift shop they have a nice book, similar to our werler and dixon's texas snakes, which i believe is called snakes of arkansas. it should be at amazon.com. there is also a local wildlife expert there named tommy young who used to have a wildlife rehab center (including snakes) at queen wilhelmina state park.
here you go - snakesofarkansas.com
