Ladder tails should have "line" markings connecting the squares making the squared blotches appear as ladder rungs.

thank you now is that genetic or does it just happen some times?

Another explanation I believe would be that for some time the two terms , "Squaretail & laddertail" were interchangeable terms that explained a connected pattern forming squares or a Ladder appearance to the tail. At a certain point('02 maybe ?) this changed when a Morph Boa in Europe that produced offspring that often produced this look with the tail was named "Squaretail. So now any other Boa with this similar appearance even if genetic is most often referred to as a Laddertail.

Lar is right. Squaretails are a European boa morph that fetches much higher dollar amounts than laddertails and has a very different look; tons of color. Laddertails are a polygenic trait where the tail splotches connect much like a ladder. Quite often you see boas that are circle back AND laddertail.

Dave Colling has a beautiful circleback laddertail (CBLT)boa that maybe he can post a picture of or you can search as he recently had a litter from her.

Several US breeders have nice squaretails, Peter Kahl is one of them, check out his squaretails here: http://www.pkreptiles.com/collection/view_details.asp?id=70000015

Hmmm, someone asking me to post a pic....carefull what you ask for!!!

Yes I have a really nice (Stunning IMO) Pastel Circle Back Ladder Tail, CBLT for short. Her name is Candy and she is a sweetie.

Bred with a stuning Pastel Salmon "Reeses"

Interesting thing is ALL of her non hypo babies picked up her Circle Back pattern and to one degree or another some ladder tailing with #19 being the cleanest of the ladder tails.....

So, these babies are double dose Pastel, CBLT's
