just want to make sure i'm doing this right....

kcaiman Sep 02, 2003 10:15 PM

the humidity is almost always at, atleast 80, i'm trying to get it up by spraying the walls but it doesn't seem to do much! Any ideas how to make it more humid or is 80 ok? Also, its 75 degrees in the tank.. should i try to make it a bit hotter? Anyway my two azureus eat like pigs and was wondering... do the frogs know when to stop eating? i know it might sound funny but i don't want to over feed them being that there stomaches look a little bigger since i got them. Any comment would be apprieciated!

Most folks tend to over feed when they are younger becuase thats when the frog grow the most.

As for the humidty. 80 is ok, i think. The heat doesnt cuase the humidty, its the light beating down on the tank that causes it. All i have to do it manually mist my tank and withen a few minutes its completly clouded. Do you have some sorta vent system thats keeping it a little low?

As long as it pretty well closed off and misted it should stay high.

no vent system at all. maybe the humidity isn't calibrated correctly who knows.

What are you checking the humidity with? A analog gauge? If so pick up a digital one. Most analog ones will not go much over 80%. As for the temp that should be fine. My tanks run from about 70-78 and are doing well.

mines not digital but it says it goes up to 100% humidity.

thats probibly your problem. I had a analoge humidity guage that went up to 100%. It only read like 75% and in a few days it started to corrode or something. Go to wally world (wal-mart) and a get a digi for $15. well worth it, iv had mine INSIDE of the vivarium for over 2 months and it still functions properly.

Thats my point, the analog ones are not accurate above 80% or so.
