Hey Colchicine...

I got a few new hogs...all easterns and extremely beautiful(pics should be coming soon). Clint from the forums was nice enough to allow me to take 3. One is already on mice and the other two should be on their way soon enough. Boy, are they lookers. They are CH, so it should be quite fun to see them grow from little worms into adults. You can already tell which out of the original 30 will be lookers and which will be normal (well more or less...the standards are easy to spot). But unforunately my female eastern that never got switched over and was possibly gravid seems to be in dire straights. Clint has her as of now, but she has something going on in her rearhalf...possibly impacted slugs. How are your hoggies doing? Andy

You can't afford to pass up a good deal on some Eastern's when you get it! Which is why I took in a captive bred Eastern hatchling a couple of months ago. We got it eating scented pinkies (letting some captive toads bite them and getting their saliva on them), after only a few short weeks of that, we can leave unscented pinkies in with it and it disappears!

We did have an elderly volunteer get bit by one of our largest and oldest Easterns. She did a show with owls and had the smell of leather from the glove on her hands. The hognose clamped right onto her! We ran the snake and finger under water and progressively made it warmer until it let go. This is a good opportunity... this lady claims she is allergic to everything, and she had no adverse effects whatsoever from this bite. We all love this one Eastern, she goes into the feeding frenzy mode, and we have to make sure she does not bite her own tail! We have even gotten her to eat a small cube of Mazuri's carnivorous reptile and amphibian gel diet! This is also the only hognose we have gotten to eat minnows as well.

We SHOULD get pics with her mouth open!

The hatchling is twice the size of its sibling at another place that is not getting toad saliva scented pinkies!
