first thing, you dont need a night time basking light. lights should be turned off at night. 12 on 12 off normally.

best and cheapest things to use are just basic floodlights or normal house bulbs. just play around with different wattages until you get the right temps. a thermostat is the best way to go about getting your temps right

That's exactly what I do with all of my lizards and snakes. I have light bulbs in varying wattages and a digital thermometer/hygrometer. I just change bulbs to get the right temp and everyone cools down at night.

Well...big tropical snakes are on 24/7 radiant heat panels, but that's another forum.

You really don't need a nighttime bulb. I prefer Zoomed. Their bulbs have always worked great for me.

I ended up buying (before seeing more responses) both day and night ZooMed bulbs. I purchased the blue night and the Basking 100w daytime bulb by mistake instead of the 100w tight beam. I'll see about them taking the blue light back. Plus the temps night time in my house do not ever fall below 68o. So the bulb is turning out to be wasted money!!
Thanks again for the advice. I trully appreciate it.

Actually u dont need that much wattage as long as the light is close enough its just a waste of electricity and could even over heat the enclosure. I use regular outdoor flood lights rated at 50 watts that i picked up at walmart for about $8 for 2 bulbs on sale. My lizards highest basking spot is about 9-10 inches away from the light.

Standard flood or spot like bulbs you use for the house are fine as basking spot lights. Night time light/heat is not necessary at all for bearded dragons...in fact they can cause problems by preventing the cage from cooling down properly at night. Dragons do need the night time temp drop. As long as your room temperature doesn't drop below 65F you don't need heating during the night.

If your home does drop lower than that, a little supplemental heat could be provided but you don't want the tank warmer than 75F either at night. It would be easier just to raise the room temperature. Occasional drops at night to 60F is ok but not so much a constant night time temp.
