Crocodilian Laws in New Hampshire?

DavidY Jul 14, 2008 08:44 AM

Does anyone know what the current laws are in New Hampshire for the possession/sales of crocodilians? I know for the longest time that they were not regulated in this state but a couple of years ago I heard that they had passed (or were going to pass) a new legislation that would restrict their possession/sales. I have tried searching the nh.gov website for hours but have been unable to find anything regarding crocodilians or any large reptiles. If anyone has any knowledge about their status in NH I'd appreciate it.

I've been thinking about opening a reptile/exotic pet store here in NH and would like to have a dwarf caimen or two for display purposes (possibly for sale to an educated and capable handler of course). Hopefully they haven't been banned...

Animal rights organizations have accurate information on what states have bans, etc. Above is the link to read the current laws there. Basically, there are no laws governing crocodilians. However, if you plan to open a pet stop...I strongly urge you to reconsider the sell of crocodilians. If there aren't any laws now, with the wrong people having the wrong animals there could end up being before too long. That's how each state falls. If you do intend to sell crocs regardless...be VERY picky who you sell them to. No, you may not sell many...but you'll stay in business longer.

Okay, thanks Chris! I agree with you about crocs getting into the wrong hands. If I do get any crocs it will be one of the Paleosuchus species and I will keep them for display only.

Thanks again for the link!
