Hypo-E mex mex.ever see one?

shannon brown Jul 14, 2008 06:20 PM

So,I get this pair of mex mex from a buddy back east and he tells me that they are het for hypo-E. I call him and say wow,I think the male already is hypo-E. And the female is super bright. They were hatched in 04 and I got ahold of the guy that hatched them.He said that in 01 he bought some mex mex from a guy at a show and that there was one ugly one with no color in it really. It was thrown in for free.He grew it up and he thought for a long time it was anery but after looking at other hypo-E snakes he figured that is what it is.
So he bred it to a clutch mate and produced all normals and sold my buddy a pair. The male little by little turned into what you see now.The colors in person are really nice.Almost pink like a pastel or lavender its really soft but beautiful.
Anyway,He has 6 eggs cooking and sold me the adults.I am stoked about next year now.And I can't wait to see what he produces except he said last year he had 6 eggs and they were all normal looking. But maybe they need time to show there morph?
Anyway,I am rambling.

Bye Bye now,

Hey, those are sweet man. I'm going over that guy's house with some KFC and we're gonna watch those eggs hatch. But that for sure a hypoerythristic if I've ever seen one. Some may not agree and get all "Russled" up about it, but hypoerythristics, as with Dunham's pyros and those "pumpkin" Sinaloans, start out looking somewhat different as the red may be slightly more washed out. OR, the red is lighter by comparison to it's normal sibs and the scales have an almost translucent edge to them which indicates some form of fading to come. I have a neonate agalma that I'm raising up that demonstrates this, but it's so hard to pick up with a camera. However the pics below show the contrast.

....to the anery agalmas?? I remember a few maybe 6-8 years ago and a friend had a lone male that never did much.
Anyone know where they are these days?

Hey Mark,

long time no speak! How are you? Well, to the very best of my knowledge given the history I have traced, the anery Martir agalma is no longer. It is deceased. However, the crossing of this lone male anery Martir into a couple female Juarez specimens back around 1996 has trickled down several generations into what remains today. There is still anerythrism somewhere in the blood of these agalma crosses, however there seems to also be what appears to be a phenotype expression of hypo-erythrism which is a significant reduction of the red pigmentation (as seen in some pyros and Sinaloan milks) however this has not been bred true as of yet (working on it....) and some will disagree that it is the Martir influence. I have seen pure Martir snakes and they do not have this typr of reduction of red pigmentation. Time will tell, but for the single known anerythristic agalma, he is gone.

Yeah. long time.
Well that's too bad about the anery.
O.K. then....what about the anery L.t. micropholis??
Was it a pure snake? Is it still around??

I think Mr. Milkshake would best be fit to answer such a question as I'm not aware of an anery micropholis. But I do think that Shannon's hypo stuarti is quite a looker and is a rarity. Cheers!

Cool project to prove out.

See if you can produce a female mexmex that will stay bright into adulthood. In the past it was easy for me to tell the males from the females just because they stayed cleaner and brighter into adulthood. Just my honest opinion......But that male is a screamer mexmex.

By the way.....Nice seeing your name around here from time to time.
