White plains show

wbcrows Jul 14, 2008 10:12 PM

Hey anyone else go this past Sunday? got my first snake, a florida king brooksi, she's gorgeous. This was my first show but a lil disappointed tons of ball pythons and geckos but not a lot of kingsnakes. There were a number of cal kings but I only saw 3 thayeri and a few flordia's.

Hey man,

welcome aboard. Kings are addicting, like many other things in life. But I was there at White Plains and yes, it was a bit dry in the colubrid realm. Alot of the hum-drum stuff. Then again it is fairly early in the season and I know many of the vendors were still sitting on eggs. The next one in September will be different -- give it another go. But when you get a pic of the Florida we'd like to see as well. But fair warning, once you start it's hard to stop at just one or two. You'll see what we mean.

Sige na! Maganda gabi! Okay, enough Tagalog man. The agalma eggs are doing juuuuuust fine. I got one about to pip any day and the other clutch won't pip until around beginning of September, but it all should be worth the wait. And then there are OTHER goodies up and coming. I hope all is well with you. I'm now working in mid-town Manhattan as opposed to Westchester County. What a nice quality-of-life change for me man. We still gotta get together for some wings and a brew. Shoot me an e-mail with your # as I forgot to enter it last time.

The hardest part was convincing my wife to let me get a snake, she doesn't mind the turtle and actually likes my uro but she wasn't convinced until she saw me hold my brooksi and it didn't bite.
You are right though, I've had her one day and I've already found a mate for her in the classifieds. I'll take it slow though.

This is my 5th time going to White Plains. I really love it. So far, i bought a gecko, tarantula and a boa. I agree with the previous replies that September should be even better. You'll see a lot more colubrids. Get there early (10am) because all the good stuff goes fast.
