my beardies acting strangely...

beardienoob Jul 14, 2008 10:24 PM

so i have a male beardie, he's about seven months old, and recently over the past two weeks, he has been acting abnormally agressive. every time i open his cage, he opens his mouth ti hess, and his beard gets all big and black which i realize is a defensive/territorial gesture. But before this he was always very calm and docile, and he loved to be handled. i just don't get it... any suggestions or questions?

Maybe but personally I've never experienced a dragon get aggressive as others have described. I'd recheck all of the husbandry issues and make sure he is comfortable anyway.

Sometimes when the weather changes we forget to adjust temps. to compensate for higher ambient temps. in our homes.

I agree...mine went thru that, and it turned out that she needed/wanted more light. I added another lamp and she was happy as a clam.

Oh, but she did go thru an "afraid" phase too...hmmm. She was skittish for a few months...but yeah she got over that too...

Dunno if this helps, or I'm just rambling...lol Good luck!
