Sexing lizards and snakes

Is there any other way to sex snakes other than probing? Don't males have divided anal plates? Also, how do you sex lizards? Probing?

The most reliable way to sex snakes is to probe. You also can do what is called popping, this is where you bent the tail back and slowly bring your thumb forward from the tail toward the vent or cloaca, if the hemi penes come out it is male. It is not for a person who has never be show how to do it. And for lizards,you pretty much have to wait till they are older. Monitor lizards hemi penes sometimes come out as they deficate. And some lizards you can mess with their temp during incubation and control what sex the neonates will be.
