Interestine note on the mbk/cali cross

FunkyRes Jul 15, 2008 04:37 PM

Someone else did the cross this year and sent me a link to her offspring. I won't post it here because -

A) She has price tags
B) She didn't say I could
C) She can herself if she really wants to

However - an interesting note, only some of hers look like mine with the melanistic sock head. Most of hers have the classic Cal King nose (with the four cream spots) and only about half of hers look melanistic to me.

I know pure desert kings (at least often) have those noses too.

I am working on a neat croos myself this year with mole kings. I am using a large american mole king to breed to a african. I am hoping to make some really cool african-american mole knigs. I hope the project turns out like I hope.

I would rrally like to see more old and new world crosses. I am amazed that nobody is doing the ratsnake crosses from europe and Asia to cornsnakes.

Dude, you may want to try a spell check in there somewhere. Are you referring to the African Mole snake (Pseudaspis cana)? For what it is worth, the California king and Mexican black king cross is not even a hybrid cross. It is simply an intergrade of two geograpic races of common kingsnake. How do you guys define the term "hybrid"? Doesn't a hybrid have to result in a cross from two well-defined different species?

I'm sorry for mispelling one word there honey. That was my bad all the way. I was making a joke on the way out the door and I hit noe key instead of the other. If you want to get into this again, you are a day late and a doolar short lol. That was on purpose.

Sorry about the mispelling comment; it was uncalled for. Frankly I enjoyed reading the MBK X CalKing thread. It rekindled a long buried love of kingsnakes. You guys are so damn passionate about these animals it is contagious. One of the happiest days in my life was collecting my first speckled king in southern Illinois. I remember it like it was yesterday, but it was 1977. I have had lots of snakes come and go since then, but that king was my favorite. That was when deli cups were used for chicken salad!
