What the heck is a "hybino?"

A hybino is a hypo albino though personally I don't think it makes any sense at all to call a 1 day old hatchling that because you can't know for sure how it will turn out, even if both parents are hypo. Now if both parents are superhypobaldy hybinos, then it is pretty safe to say that offspring will be a hybino but there are so few of those- the only person I know who has succeeded in creating 100% hybinos is Ray Hine (they are gorgeous), this year, and he didn't sell many and they were very expensive. A &M has produced partial hybinos this year and I have produced them this year as well (how hybino they will go is still to be seen). That looks like a regular old albino to me, but then since I work with hypo albinos/hybinos I know you can't really tell when they hatch what they will look like as they mature. You can make an educated guess, of course. In my experience they hybinos often have an abberrant pattern, like superhypos often do, but that is not a sure thing either of course.

This is a pic of one of my hypo geckos (still quite young) who I expect to go hybino (mother is super hypo tang carrot het albino father is hypo orange/tang albino). Note the dot where the band would normally be in front-aberrant pattern. See how the orange is taking over the pink? If it totally takes over the pink it will be a true hybino- aka an albino gecko with no pattern on body, all orange or yellow.

Good luck. Hybino is such a new term, coined by Ray Hine I believe, I tend to stick to the pictoral definititopn he has given of hybino, whic is a superhypobaldy albino----amazing. Time and usage may xpan dthe term, but I defer to the person that coined it until then. While your breeders have reduced pigment areas I personally would not call either hybino, though they are very nice and a good basis for working towards true hybinos.

I hope so to

Both mother and father are direct from Ray Hine (I Live 10 Mins away from him so i get a lot of geckos from him direct)

i will keep you updated

I sure wish more people would adhear to this. So many people are calling their geckos what they are not. Two cases in point.

#1
I know a person on another forum that bought what, for all practial purposes, looked just like a regular ol' normal, hind leg marks and all. This person bought it as a SUPER HYPO! It was no more than 1 month old. The justification from the breeder was that both parents were super hypo. I have not seen pictures of the parents, but based on this interaction I would even question the validity of that claim.

#2
Banana Blizzard. PP coined the phrase. Said it was a double homozygous Patternless Blizzard. What is happening now is that, due to the propesity of Blizzards to hatch out with yellow, MANY breeders are calling any blizzard with yellow coloring a Banana Blizzard. No verification of genetics or anything. Blatent acknowledgement of PP's claim and they still do it. I don't have a problem with them selling or marketing them but give them a name that is not taken yet. I suggest the term "Lemon" Blizzard althought I like "Yellow Snow" Blizzard better.

This is just two of the most blatent examples I can think of.

When you are sold a leo by a reputable breeder and he/she sells it to you as a Super hypo tangerine or a hybino then that is what people are going to call them!
