This girl only laid two good eggs last year and in her first clutch this year but I came home today to find her finishing a healthy second clutch of six. I hadn't planned on double clutching her this year but she didn't even look like she had laid eggs after laying her first clutch this summer so I put them back together. She still looks good after laying her second clutch today thank goodness.

Congrats Randy!! This time of year sure is fun, huh. I just had one of my 05 holdback mandarins lay her first cluth. Next week my albino Thayeri start hatching and man are they fun! I never know what will come out of those eggs.

Yes it is. This is her first year breeding. Here's my best 06, but she wanted nothing to do with any males. Hope she's more amorous next year.
Do you provide a moist hide for your coxi and do they spend much time there? Mine spend more time in the dry areas---which surprises me.

That's another screamer mandarin.
I only provide a moist nest box when my female coxi is due to lay. I keep my adults and babies with a very big water bowl in their cage with small holes for air transfer which seems to keep up the humidity up just fine for them. They have always done great and I've never had one have a bad shed. I do keep my hatchlings moist until their first shed but I do that for most species and not just my coxi.
